Bekele Gedecho

Six years of arbitrary imprisonment under the Marxist regime in Ethiopia did nothing to dampen the zeal of Bekele to reach the unreached. In fact, this grueling and horrid experience opened incredible doors.

Here are just a few. Seminary education in Canada became a reality. Bekele’s wife and seven children were miraculously granted immigration to join him in British Columbia. A mission initiative gave rise to 200 church plants with 21,000 converts back in Ethiopia. Critical children’s materials were composed, printed in Ethiopia, and utilized with appropriate staff.

Bekele and Trunesh are infected with a thoroughly contagious enthusiasm for reaching the world for Christ. He is available in the lower mainland of B.C. for preaching and workshops at mission conferences and churches.

Ervin Gonske

Ervin became interested in world missions while attending Okanagan Bible Insti-tute in Kelowna, B.C. his first involvement in ministry was as a camp counselor at a Canadian Sunday School Mission camp in B.C. Following this he was involved in short term missions in Japan, Mexico, Italy, India and Nepal. Following these short term ministries he returned to Canada for further education and completed his Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Social Sciences and Master of Divinity degrees at Providence College and Seminary (1981 and 1984). Also, while attending semi-nary, Ervin met his dear wife, Anna (nee Petkau) and they were married in 1982.

Together Ervin and Anna served with FEBInternational in Pakistan from 1987 – 2008 in the area of Theological Education by Extension, evangelism and leader-ship training. The experience he gained there is proving to be a valuable asset in his new position as director of leadership training with Advancing Indigenous Missions which Ervin accepted in January 2009.

Ervin has a real heart for encouraging his national brothers and sisters in Christ and is committed to establishing a prayer network throughout Canada to pray for the needs of the indigenous workers overseas.

Keith Peters

In April 2008, Keith Peters joined AIM’s staff and became full-time administrator. Having just completed a 4-year BA in International Development Studies, Keith's growing familiarity with issues in the non-West are an asset to the organization. He hopes to help AIM fulfill its mission of linking Canadian churches to indigenous missions.

Keith grew into his call to missions. In early 2001, he went to West Africa on a short-term mission trip where he discovered what a blessing it is to connect with people from other cultures. Later that year he returned there to serve for another two years. It was during this time that his heart to serve God in full-time ministry really grew.

Keith and his wife, Lorilee, reside in Winnipeg and have one daughter.
