  1. How does AIM link with indigenous missionaries?
Our sister agency in the U.S., Advancing Native Missions (ANM), has worked hard to develop a network with indigenous mission organizations over the past 30 years. Many of these groups are made up of faithful disciples who have persevered through much in order to bring glory to Christ's name.

AIM has joined them in supporting and strengthening this network of missionaries and pastors through the programs we run. For example, supporters and members of AIM travel to visit our partner missions around the world in order to connect with, teach, and learn from them. Many of these individuals return to their home churches having been encouraged and stretched and are able to share what the Lord is doing through indigenous missions. This is part of our vision, to connect churches and church groups in Canada to these missions so that we are mutually encouraged, built up, and strengthened in the Faith.

  2. How can I support an indigenous missionary?
Rather than working with individual missionaries, AIM primarily works with indigenous mission groups that provide necessary support and encouragement which individual missionaries need in order to thrive as servants of the Gospel. These groups are made up of a number of missionaries who minister in their respective local communities and need one another for mutual strengthening and accountability. Moreover, maintaining contact with many of the individual indigenous missionaries can prove challenging due to barriers in both, availability of technical communication (i.e., computers with e-mail), as well as in language differences.

Thus AIM seeks to connect with indigenous mission groups chiefly through the mission leaders who oversee and provide pastoral care for those serving with the group. Gifts are therefore distributed through leadership to the individual missionaries.

  3. When financial gifts are received, how much does AIM withhold for administrative purposes?
AIM's policy for withholding was recently changed for 2008, and we now withhold 15% for administration. We desire to be faithful and accountable in the work the Lord has called us to; consequently withholding funds are necessary to oversee that our ministry is thorough and effective.
